
The BLM Library has been in existence since 1970. The library offers a full range of services including reference, interlibrary loans, and listings of recent publications. The Library's services are aimed at keeping its customers updated on research and development, applied technology, legislation, and administration. There are no charges to BLM offices or employees for any services provided. Library services may be made available to other Federal agencies on a fee-per-service or reimbursable basis.
The BLM Library has over 40,000 volumes and over 250 periodical subscriptions in its collection. These materials cover all aspects of land management, natural resources, minerals, computer science, and administration. The Library's collection is arranged according to the Library of Congress Classification System and is cataloged through OCLC, the Online Computer Library Center, Inc. OCLC is a sophisticated computer network that links over 30,000 participating libraries around the world.
