Resultant cut or fill slopes shall not be steeper than 4:1, unless staked otherwise.(#@ C.@Removal of Tower and Mill: Prior to removal of the tower and mill, the pump shall be disconnected from the [pipeline] [water storage tank]. The pump shall be reconnected to the [pipeline] [water storage tank] upon completion of the maintenance of the tower and mill. Lay the existing windmill and tower on the ground without damaging it.(#@ 3.02 INSTALLATION: A.@Maintenance of Tower and Mill: The Contractor shall do necessary work to ensure that the windmill and tower are in proper working condition. This shall include, but not be limited to: tightening loose nuts and replacing missing nuts and bolts, repairing or replacing damaged components, replacing unserviceable, missing, or damaged components, adjusting components when necessary and lubricating the windmill.(#@ B.@Setting of Tower and Mill: After appropriate maintenance has been accomplished, the windmill and tower shall be erected and assembled according to the manufacturer's instructions (except lubrication of the mill shall be done after it is in its final position). Each leg of the mill shall be bolted to anchors set in concrete. If one or more anchor posts are unserviceable or missing, the Contractor shall set new anchors in concrete. Repair or replacement anchor posts and associated concrete shall be of the appropriate size and installed according to manufacturer's recommendations. The tower and mill shall be accurately centered and plumbed over the well.(#@ $ԌC.@Alignment of Tower and Mill: Each tower and mill shall be set in a plumbed vertical line over the centerline of the well casing. Threaded joints shall be properly lubricated with anti-seize compound prior to final installation.(# @2.Drop Pipe: Drop pipe shall be installed to the depth specified. Drop pipe ends shall be reamed to remove burrs prior to installation. The well cylinder barrel shall be fitted to the drop pipe prior to insertion into the well. The drop pipe shall be fitted with a final coupling, short nipple, tee and another short nipple with all above the well seal. The uppermost nipple shall be fitted with suitable fittings to receive the stuffing box. [A 1/8-inch diameter hole shall be drilled in the drop pipe 8 ft below the ground surface to drain that portion of the drop pipe and prevent damage by freezing.](# @3.Polished Rod Assembly: The polished rod, brass sleeve and stuffing box shall be fitted and assembled according to the manufacturer's instructions. The polished rod, pump rod, and plunger assembly shall be raised a minimum of 6 inches, or at a distance specified by the Contracting Officer, above its lowest position in the well cylinder and the guide stop shall be locked in this position. A legible, waterproof tag shall be attached to the polished rod warning that the rod drive must be attached to the polished rod when in the down stroke to prevent damage to the rod and cylinder.(# @4.Pump Rod: Pump rod shall be installed to the depth specified. The pump rod shall be properly fitted to the cylinder plunger and the polished rod. Rod sections shall be straight and true and in lengths of 20 or 21 ft, except the final top section which will be shortened by removing a midshaft portion to achieve the proper overall pump rod length.
