(UL) listed and labeled. UL listing and labeling will not be required if it can be shown that system components meet the requirements of another nationally recognized testing laboratory (NRTL).(# PART 2: PRODUCTS 2.1MATERIALS(# A.General: Sound system components shall be constructed of the manufacturer's standard materials, as listed in published product information; types and sizes shall be as indicated or as required for the installation.(# 2.2EQUIPMENT(# A.Control Center: Sound system control center including amplifier, tuner, and tape player and with a capacity of [25] [50] speaker stations. A rated program output of 60 W at 70 V, transformer isolated, and intercom output of 4W at 70 V, transformer isolated. Inputs shall include at least one for a low impedance, balanced, priority microphone; one for high impedance (10k ohms) auxiliary; and one for bridging (in parallel, 10k ohms). Input sensitivity shall be 0.25 mV for microphone; 0.1 V for auxiliary; 1 V for bridging; with intercom optimized to speakers. Frequency response shall be +Ġ3 dB from 85 to 14k Hz with distortion less than 2.5%. Noise levels shall be -60 dB for microphone and -70 dB for intercom both from 20 to 20k Hz. Output regulation shall be less than 3dB for program and 2 dB for intercom, both from no load to full load.(# B.Speakers: Shall be 8-inch diameter, seamless cone, 4.8 oz permanent magnet, nominal 10 W rating, with a 3/4-inch diameter, 8 ohm voice coil. Frequency range is to be 30 to 15,000 Hz. Speaker shall be preassembled with a speaker matching transformer rated 70 V primary and 1/2, 1, 2, and 4 W taps on secondary which shall be factory-set on the 1/2 W tap. External metal parts shall be cadmium plated.(# C.Volume Controls: Auto-transformer attenuator type shall be provided for each speaker. Control shall be for use in 70 V supply lines and shall include a definite 'OFF' position.(# D.Accessories: Shall be provided to suit the location where the speaker is installed. Provide backboxes and flush-type grilles for speakers recessed in ceilings or walls. Provide surface backbox and grille or baffle for speakers surface mounted on ceilings or walls. Provide plaster rings where needed and select exposed speaker grilles and boxes with finish epoxy paint to match location.(# E.Interconnection Cables: For dry location use shall be rated 300 V, and include at least one twisted, shielded pair of copper #20 AWG, PVC insulated conductors. A shield-drain wire shall be included and an overall 0.025-inch thick PVC jacket is required. Refer to Section 16120 - Conductors and Cables for direct burial, shielded telephone distribution wire for use underground or in wet locations. UL listed plenum cable is required when cable is installed without conduit in plenum space above suspended ceilings.(# }&0*s's'ԌPART 3: EXECUTION 3.1INSTALLATION(# A.General: Install sound system as indicated, complying with manufacturer's written instructions, applicable requirements of codes and standards, and according to recognized industry practices.(# B.Conduit: Sound system installation shall be according to NFPA 70 and wiring shall be installed in conduit unless otherwise shown on the drawings.(# C.Location: Locate system control racks where shown on the drawings.
