(# B.Labeling Requirements: Phase converters shall be Underwriters Laboratories Inc., (UL) labeled and listed. UL listing and labeling will not be required if it can be shown that phase converters meet the requirements of another nationally recognized testing laboratory (NRTL).(# C.Testing Requirements: The three phase currents shall be recorded for each section of the phase converter after completion of balancing to obtain the best motor phase current balance possible.(# D.Failure Criteria: Not limited to the following:(#}&0*s's'Ԍ1.` ` Unsatisfactory operation of converter or motors.(#` 2.` ` Overheating of converter or motors at 20 starts per hour.(#` 3.` ` Excessive (> 5%) current unbalance at set point.(#` 4.` ` Excessive starting current (> 4 x rated F.L.I.)(#` 5.` ` Excessive starting time (> 3 sec.)(#` 1.4WARRANTY A.Requirements: Furnish a written warranty from the manufacturer covering the phase converter and its component parts according to Section 01700 Contract Closeout. The warranty period shall extend for a minimum of 1 year.(# B.Uniformity: The warranty for all components of the phase converter shall be covered by a single manufacturer.(# PART 2: PRODUCTS 2.1MATERIALS A.General: Converters shall be constructed of the manufacturer's standard materials, as listed in published product information; types and sizes shall be as indicated or as required for the installation.(# 2.2MANUFACTURED UNITS A.Static Type Converter: Shall utilize an autotransformer and capacitors to produce symmetrical three phase currents from a single phase source. It shall include adjustable taps on the autotransformer and connections to increase or decrease the capacitance to allow full load current balance within 5 percent. It shall be specially engineered for use with [a single motor.] [sewage lift station.] [duplex pump installations.] [It shall include [one] [two] independently adjustable sections, [one for each associated motor,] and it shall be capable of running [the] [each] motor at full load, independently or simultaneously without overloading either the converter or the motors.] The converter shall provide not less than 150 percent starting torque, it shall be capable of at least twenty 3second or ten 6second starts per hour, it shall be able to operate in an ambient temperature of 25 degrees F to +110 degrees F, with noload loss not to exceed 40 watts, and have an efficiency of 97 percent at full load. Each section of the converter shall have a mean time between failure (MTBF) of 10,000 hours. The converter shall be sized by the manufacturer after receipt of accurate motor data including rated revolutions per minute (rpm) and full load current (FLI) from the Contractor.](# B.Adjustable Rotary Type Converter: Shall be the adjustable rotary type built for applications where load voltages and current balances are critical such as electronic equipment, computers, or specialty motors. The converters rotary section shall include a rotary transformer with a tapped winding to allow adjustment of full load currents to within + 5 percent of balance. The converter can operate one or more wye or delta connected motors, of single or variable speed, reversible or nonreversible, intermittent or continuous duty. The converter shall allow normal performance of connected motors, normal starting and 200 percent breakdown torque, and shall not limit the number of starts per hour above the motor manufacturer's recommendation. Power loss in converter shall not decrease total efficiency by more than 2 percent%0*s's' at loaded condition. The converter shall also include nonpcb capacitors in a metal enclosure.(# C.Standard Rotary Type Phase Converter: Shall be suitable for multiple motor applications such as those found in small machine shops. Converter construction includes all copper windings, cast frame, and UL listed non pcb capacitors. Control over balancing load current within + 15 percent is obtained by connecting or disconnecting capacitors connected in parallel with the manufactured phase.(# 2.3 SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL A.Testing: The manufacturer will perform the required testing, recording, and adjusting of the converter at the factory. This shall include adjustment of autotransformer taps and preliminary setting of the capacitance based on Contractor provided motor data.(# PART 3: EXECUTION 3.1INSTALLATION A.General: Install converters as indicated, complying with the manufactuer's written instructions, applicable requirements of codes and standards, and accordign to recognized industry practices.(# 3.2FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A.Testing: The Contractor shall conduct the performance and acceptance tests of the converter and shall adjust the autotransformer tap and add or remove condensers in each section to obtain the best possible full load current balance for each motor. The Contractor shall furnish necessary equipment, labor, and materials to conduct the testing. Testing shall be conducted in the presence of the Contracting Officer who shall be given 48 hours notice before any test is to be conducted and shall include recording of the final balanced three phrase currents of each motor.(# PART 4: MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT ***************************************************** WHEN A "LUMP SUM" CONTRACT IS USED, DELETE THE TITLE PART 4: MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT, AND BOTH ARTICLES FROM THIS SECTION.
