BLM Announces a 30-Day Comment Period on the Mid-America Pipeline Western Expansion Pipeline III Preliminary Environmental Assessment
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) seeks public comment on a proposal by Enterprise Mid-America Pipeline’s (MAPL) for the construction, operation, maintenance, and abandonment of about 233 miles of natural gas pipeline known as the Western Expansion Pipeline III Project. The BLM has developed a Preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) analyzing the environmental impacts from the proposed project. The Preliminary EA considers a reasonable range of alternatives, including a No Action alternative, and will disclose the direct, indirect, and cumulative environmental impacts of the proposal. The 30-day public comment period is open until April 26, 2013. Based on the preliminary analysis in the Preliminary EA, the BLM has found no significant effects relating to the proposed project, and has therefore included an unsigned Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for review. The FONSI is subject to change based on new information provided through the public review and comment process.
The BLM invites the public to review and comment on the Preliminary EA. There are four ways to submit comments:
- By Email: BLM_NM_FFO_comments@blm.gov
- By Fax: 575-525-4412
- By Mail: Lorraine Salas, BLM National Project Manager, BLM Las Cruces District Office, 1800 Marquess St., Las Cruces, NM 88005
- In Person: Drop off written comments at one of the BLM Field Offices
