October 21, 2015 Lease Sale

The Expression of Interest cut-off date for the October 2015 Oil & Gas Lease Sale is December 26, 2014.

The BLM New Mexico State Office will only be considering Expressions of Interests (EOIs) received for the Farmington District Office (Farmington and Taos Field Offices) in the October 2015 Oil & Gas Lease Sale. All other EOIs received for the October 2015 Oil & Gas Lease Sale will be considered in future sales. Update – May 11, 2015: The New Mexico Bureau of Land Management will not offer the three Farmington lease parcels for sale in the October 21, 2015 oil and gas lease sale because additional time is required to evaluate public comments regarding potential drainage, tribal consultation, and environmental justice.

Update – March 8, 2015: The BLM New Mexico State Office will consider for lease seventeen parcels within the Carlsbad Field Office. Drill Islands that have been established by oil and gas companies with concurrence from the potash industry in accordance with the 2012 Secretary’s Potash Order have improved the opportunity to access remote unleased fluid mineral estate with horizontal drilling technology. In order to avoid loss of access to the fluid mineral estate (mineral estate becomes stranded or isolated due to active underground potash mining and would not be suitable for oil and gas development) and avoid further loss of royalties, the BLM will consider these parcels for sale in the October 21, 2015, Lease Sale.

All submissions from organizations or businesses, and from individuals identifying themselves as representatives or officials of organizations or businesses, will be made available for public inspection in their entirety.

Stipulation summaries, GIS shapefiles, and maps are also provided. This allows the public an opportunity to provide comments which are then analyzed and incorporated into the environmental analysis as appropriate.
