The Buffalo Dance

Of the many ceremonies the pueblo does, one of them you’re going to be seeing today is the buffalo dance.  It’s really a reflection on respect for the buffalo.  These children that are doing this dance learn that there is something called the buffalo dance, and eventually they’re going to learn that it is a very much respected animal.

[Singing & drumming.]

If you’re fortunate enough to view a pueblo dance, please be courteous.  Pueblo dances are religious ceremonies and are not performances.  Observe them as you would a church service, with respect and quiet attention.  Cell phones are prohibited, and clapping is considered rude.
