Socorro Field Office

The Socorro Field Office manages 1.3 million acres of surface and 1.7 million acres of subsurface public lands within Socorro and Catron Counties. Located in south central and western New Mexico, the area is bisected by the Rio Grande. The landscape contains diverse and scenic plants, animals, and geology in a wide variety of environments and demonstrates an engrossing history of human occupation from the times of the Ice Age to the Atomic Age.
