Rocky Claim Expansion Project

Rocky Claim Expansion Project
Mine Plan of Operation and Closure/Closeout Plan
Chino Mines Company
Grant County, New Mexico

The Mine Plan of Operations and Closure/Closeout Plan for the proposed Rocky Claim Mine Project is available for public review.

The Phelps Dodge Mining Company proposes to expand the existing Santa Rita Mine pit wall by twenty (20) acres. Under this proposal, all mining activity is to be located on the southern edge of the existing Santa Rita Pit.

This project area is located approximately 12 miles East of Silver City, New Mexico and provides for mining activities not proposed in the original Chino Mine Plan of Operations and Environmental Assessment (EA, dated November, 1996).

The comment period ended May 23rd, 2006.
