Abstract:

The National Integrated Land System's (NILS) GeoCommunicator provides a Web Mapping Application and Map Services showing federal pending, authorized, and closed oil and gas leases, agreements, and lease sale parcels in the U.S on federal lands or where there are federal minerals. Agreements include communitzation agreements, participating areas, exploratory unit, unit agreement, etc. This data is part of the National Integrated Land Systemt (NILS). The leases and agreements in NILS have been converted from the BLM's Legacy Rehost (LR2000) system where the original case records are electronically maintained.

Purpose:

The purpose of this layer is to provide a multi-purpose nationwide dataset of Oil and Gas agreements and leases on federal lands or on lands where there are federal minerals. Not all Oil and Gas cases are displayed on GeoCommunicator.

Supplemental_Information:

Oil and gas leases and agreements represent authorizations for specific rights to control or possess public lands and minerals. For the NILS GeoCommunicator interactive mapping application go to <http://www.geocommunicator.gov>. For the map image services from www.geocommunicator.gov use BLM_MAP_OIL_AND_GAS or BLM_PARCELS_wms.
