Nominations for the Prescribed Fire On-the-Job Training Program

This Information Bulletin provides Bureau of Land Management (BLM) employees an opportunity to gain Prescribed Fire experience and to complete Position Task Books (PTBs). Trainees must meet the training and qualifications requirements for the position and have a PTB initiated. The prescribed fire assignments will target each individual’s PTB completion needs.

Application Process

The application process is accomplished by completing the "Request for Prescribed Fire Training Assignment" nomination form.

  • Each applicant must complete an application at the beginning of each fiscal year to be considered for the program.
  • All blocks must be completed.
  • Availability dates must be realistic and apply only to the current fiscal year (FY).
  • Requests must be forwarded to the employee’s supervisor for approval.
  • Upon approval, the supervisor will e-mail the completed nomination form to Al Olson, BLM Prescribed Fire On-the-Job Training Program Coordinator at Al_Olson@nifc.blm.gov and cc Pam McDonald at Pam_McDonald@nifc.blm.gov.
