About the Honor Guard Members

The Honor Guard is composed of a cross-section of the BLM workforce from within the ranks of Fire and Aviation.  Members represents the highest ideals of honor, dignity, professionalism and respect in serving the agency, the fire community, and the families, friends and co-workers of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Membership Criteria

Full commitment to the program is essential and directly impacts the ability of the team to function at the highest-level possible. Members will be expected to commit for no less than a two-year period, and may remain an Honor Guard member until they can no longer fulfill the commitment or wish to retire from the Honor Guard. Members must stay in good standing in the Bureau.

Members are required to attend two scheduled drill sessions each year. These drills will be scheduled well in advance to allow adequate time for travel arrangements.

For those interested in becoming a member of the Honor Guard, please refer to the Operations Guide for more information about what is expected of Honor Guard members before completing the following application. If you have questions, please contact the Honor Guard Coordinator Tommy Hayes via e-mail at thayes@blm.gov or by phone at 208-387-5423.
