MEDIA ADVISORY:
Final Segment of a Three-Part Series on Natural Resources Available from Downlink June 18

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The final segment of a national Natural Resources Forum, sponsored by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), will give viewers a remarkable opportunity to tune in and learn about the future of our country's public lands from the nation's top federal land managers. Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt will moderate a 90-minute roundtable discussion among Forest Service Chief Mike Dombeck, National Park Service Director Robert Stanton, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Director Jamie Clark, and BLM Director Pat Shea. Together, they are responsible for administering a wide variety of activities on more than 620 million acres of publicly-owned land.

The segment airing June 18 is titled Natural Resource Management in the 21st Century. Participants will explore natural resource challenges facing the nation in the coming century and ways land management agencies may address those challenges.

The segment is the last of a three-part series called Public Lands, Public Trust, which examines issues related to public land resource leadership, the role of natural resources in the United States in the coming decades, and a global view of natural resources. The first segment was called BLM, Its History and Traditions, and the second segment was called Checks and Balances. Both segments are available on broadcast-quality videotape.
