DOING BUSINESS WITH THE BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT

ACQUISITION ORGANIZATION

The Bureau has two major buying offices. They are the National Business Center in Denver, Colorado and the Oregon State Office. In addition, there are: twelve BLM State offices; the Washington D.C. office; National Interagency Fire Center (Boise, ID); and Helium Operations (Amarillo, TX), which all acquire goods and services using the Simplified Acquisition Procedures.

The National Business Center (Denver, CO) - Provides major contracting service for the western operations of the Bureau, except for the states of Oregon and Washington. It has unlimited contract authority and is responsible for major construction, land treatment, professional and nonprofessional services, supplies, FIP resources, space leases, environmental studies, hazardous material management, wild horse and burro roundups, veterinarian services, cadastral surveying, and fire rehabilitation services.

The Oregon State Office (Portland, OR) - Deals with construction, reforestation services, professional and nonprofessional services, fire presuppression, suppression and rehabilitation services, supplies and equipment purchases, hazardous material management, some FIP resources, and cooperative agreements & grants.

Other State Offices - The BLM has state offices in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Eastern States, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah,and Wyoming. State offices and most District Offices (within states) procure supplies, services, and equipment. In addition, they also place orders against the General Services Administration Federal Supply Schedules (FSS) and issue cooperative agreements & grants.

The National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) (Boise, ID) - is responsible for fire suppression efforts in the western states and Alaska. NIFC is also responsible for training, housing and dispatching fire-fighters throughout the country and requires supplies and equipment for this operation.

The Helium Operations Office supports the Federal Government's Helium Operations (formerly under the Bureau of Mines). They are responsible for supporting the extraction Helium in the Crude state, as well as the Refinning. They are located in Amarillo, TX.
