The map index describes the maps that are published by the Bureau of Land Management in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. The maps show land ownership and geographic features.  The map index is available from this office at no charge or click here for the online version.

The following map series are in the scale of 1:100,000 (about 5/8 inch per mile). Each map covers about 1,700 square miles.

• Surface Management Edition (SME): This map reflects surface ownership, roads (access not defined) and various geographic features. Most show topographic features.
• SME, Minerals Edition: This edition is a SME map with an overprint showing federally owned minerals.

Each map is $4.00.  If you purchase 50 maps or more, the cost is $2.40 per map.

For 50 or more maps, flat rate priority postage will apply as follows:
For 50–65 maps, a flat rate priority postage of $10.95 will be applied to all orders.
For more than 65 maps, a flat rate priority postage of $14.95 will be applied to all orders.
