Information Bulletin No. MT-2009-058
To: State Management Team
From: Deputy State Director, Division of Resources
Subject: Annual Cultural Resource Report for the Montana (MT) State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) for FY 2009 DD: 10/15/2009
This IB does not apply to the North and South Dakota Field Offices.
Please find attached new table formats for use to report cultural resource data to the MT SHPO as required by our state Protocol Agreement and our Historic Placer and Lode Mining Programmatic Agreement (PA).
As a result of past inconsistencies in reported data, we have, in consultation with the MT SHPO, revised the scope and format of our reporting requirements. Starting this year, we will report all projects that were reviewed but did not result in an on-the-ground inventory. Field offices must supply a reason why no survey was required and the date the decision was made. As with past years, we will report the projects that did result in survey and also document any decisions regarding eligibility and effect. The reporting period is from August 1, 2008, to July 31, 2009.
Please include only reports that have actually been submitted to the SHPO and provide a date of their transmittal. Do not include reports generated by other agencies where BLM is not the lead agency. For projects done under the case-by-case provisions of the protocol or the mining PA, please generate a new table and clearly label. If no projects were processed under either the case-by-case provisions or the Historic Placer and Lode Mining PA, please delete those tables.
If you have any questions regarding the annual report, contact Gary Smith at 406-896-5214.
