Subject: Draft Equal Access Guide DD: 4/10/06
Program Area: All programs.
Purpose: The attached draft Equal Access Guide is being sent for your review. Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 requires all Federal programs, activities, and services to be accessible to visitors with disabilities. The purpose of this guide is to assist field offices in implementing Section 504 and making decisions regarding access for recreationists with disabilities. This guide covers the program accessibility issues (i.e., non-facility type access).
Policy/Action: Please have appropriate staff, including law enforcement and recreation, review this draft Equal Access Guide and send any comments to
Ruth Miller, Program Accessibility Lead, or David Jaynes, Travel Management and Trails Coordinator, in the Montana State Office (MT-924).
Timeframe: All comments must be received by April 10, 2006.
Budget Impact: Minimal.
Background: The initial draft of this guide was completed in 2004. The OHV Implementation Team, field office recreation staffs, the State Office EEO Manager, and the WO Accessibility Coordinator reviewed the original draft of this Equal Access Guide. Their changes were incorporated into this version.
