 Powers-Yonkee Site

Montana map showing county where Powers-Yonkee Site is located
"The Powers-Yonkee site, a bison kill site in the Powder River basin of southeastern Montana, first appeared in the literature of Plains archaeology as a result of excavations performed by the Sheridan Chapter of the Wyoming Archaeological Society. Those 1961 excavations and the subsequent report established the Powers-Yonkee site among the first reported bison kill sites in the Northwestern Plains. Chronological priority caused the report on the Powers-Yonkee site to figure prominently in considerations of subsequent kill sites, particularly those of southeastern Montana and northwestern Wyoming."
