District Manager Diane M. Friez
Eastern Montana/Dakotas District
District Manager Diane Friez oversees the management of more than 3 million acres of public land and over 18 million acres of subsurface mineral estate. The Eastern Montana/Dakotas District encompasses roughly the eastern third of Montana, and North Dakota and South Dakota. Prior to accepting the District Manager position, Friez was located at the BLM State Office in Billings, where she managed the Division of Support Services, which is composed of such programs as Engineering, Safety, Human Capital Management, Business and Fiscal Services, and Information Resource Management. Friez also has a background in Employee Relations and Human Resources. In her capacity with the State Office, Friez also acted as Associate State Director and State Director of the Montana/Dakotas. A Montana native, Friez began her federal career of 34 years as a clerk-typist in the Miles City District, where she advanced to purchasing agent and Support Services Supervisor.
