New Mailing Address for Lewistown BLM |
The Bureau of Land Management’s Central Montana District Office, Lewistown Field Office and the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument Office would like to remind everyone that the mailing address for Lewistown BLM has changed to 920 North East Main Street, Lewistown, Montana 59457. The older post office box number is no longer a valid mailing address. “Beginning last April, our mail has been delivered to the BLM office rather than having a staff person take mail to the post office at the end of the day. This change requires our incoming mail to have a street-specific mailing address rather than the post office box number,” offered Debbie Tucek, BLM’s acting administrative officer. “The post office has advised us that mail addressed to our old box number is sent through their forwarding service in Billings or Denver before it is rerouted to our street address. Some of our correspondence is time specific and occasionally this delay causes some concern for members of the public,” Tucek said. The BLM has changed its return addresses on its letterhead stationery and mailing envelopes, however sometimes those subtle changes are not apparent to the reader. As a reminder, all mail coming to the BLM office in Lewistown should be mailed to 920 North East Main Street, Lewistown, Montana 59457. |

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2011, recreational and other activities on BLM-managed land contributed more than $130 billion to the U.S. economy and supported more than 600,000 American jobs. The Bureau is also one of a handful of agencies that collects more revenue than it spends. In FY 2012, nearly $5.7 billion will be generated on lands managed by the BLM, which operates on a $1.1 billion budget. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands. |
