East Bench Watershed Environmental Assessment Available For Review

The Bureau of Land Management’s Dillon Field Office has completed the East Bench Watershed Environmental Assessment for 23,000 acres in southwest Montana. It is available for public review with a 30-day comment period ending on July 6.

The EA recommends management direction related to livestock management, vegetation treatments, travel management modifications, and range projects on 14 grazing allotments, one un-allotted parcel and a portion of the Ruby Mountains Wilderness Study Area within the East Bench Watershed.

The document provides descriptions and analyses of up to three management alternatives. After reviewing public comments, Field Manager Tim Bozorth will select one of the alternatives, or a combination of alternatives, for implementation.

Written comments should be sent to BLM’s Dillon Field Office at 1005 Selway Drive in Dillon, MT 59725, or via e-mail to Please put “East Bench” in the subject line.

For more information, contact David Early or Pat Fosse at the e-mail address above or by calling the Dillon Field Office at (406) 683-8000.
