|
The Bureau of Land Management’s Dillon Field Office has completed the East Pioneer Watershed Environmental Assessment for 26,635 acres in southwest Montana. It is available for public review with a 30-day comment period ending on Aug. 3. Copies of the EA are available at the Dillon Field Office or online at www.blm.gov/mt/st/en/fo/dillon_field_office.html The EA recommends management direction related to livestock management, vegetation treatments, and range projects on 12 grazing allotments and one unallotted parcel within the East Pioneer Watershed. The document provides descriptions and analyses of up to three management alternatives. After reviewing public comments, Field Manager Tim Bozorth, will select one of the alternatives, or a combination of alternatives, for implementation. Written comments should be sent to the Dillon Field Office at 1005 Selway Drive, Dillon, MT 59725 or via e-mail to MT_Dillon_FO@blm.gov. Please put “East Pioneer” in the subject line. If you have questions about the proposed management alternatives, contact Brian Thrift or Pat Fosse at the e-mail address above or by calling (406) 683-8000. |

The BLM manages more land - over 245 million acres - than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands. |
