Central Montana Resource Advisory Council to Meet
The Bureau of Land Management’s Central Montana Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will meet January 14 & 15, in Malta, Montana.
The two-day meeting will be held in the First State Bank of Malta conference room, at 1 S. 1st. E.
The January 14 meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a 30-minute public comment period. The RAC will then move into a review of their operating charter; a discussion about the consensus process; a report about a Russian olive control project along the Upper Missouri River; a review of the RAC’s 2009 work plan; an orientation period for new and incumbent council members; field managers reports, and a review of BLM regulations pertaining to livestock grazing. This meeting will conclude with a presentation from Mr. Dale Veseth about the Ranchers’ Stewardship Alliance. This meeting is scheduled to adjourn at 5:00 p.m.
The January 15 meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a 30-minute public comment period. The RAC will then hear and /or act upon riparian activities along the Missouri River; the Limekiln Ruby blow-down in the Judith Mountains; and fee proposals from the U. S. Forest Service. The council will then hear a presentation from Mr. Shawn Raby with the American Prairie Foundation. This meeting will conclude with a series of fire presentations concerning fire suppression, restrictions, community assistance and fuels projects. The RAC will then move into a series of administrative details (the next meeting date, location, travel vouchers etc.). This meeting is scheduled to adjourn at 3:30 p.m.
The Central Montana Resource Advisory Council is a 15-member citizen advisory council that meets about every three months at various locations throughout north central Montana. This council advises the BLM concerning a wide array of public resource issues.
The public is encouraged to attend these council meetings and a public comment period is provided at the beginning of each meeting.
