Wise River Project Open House Planned

The Bureau of Land Management invites the public to attend an open house for the Wise River Forest Health and Habitat Restoration project March 3 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wise River Community Center.

The meeting will feature a short presentation, maps and displays on the history, planning and future implementation of the project. Several specialists will be on hand to discuss their resources and to answer questions.

Some of the project’s objectives include: reducing fuels along the wildland-urban interface and existing road corridors to lessen the impacts of wildland fire and allow for safer firefighting operations; reducing the risk of high-sediment flows into the Big Hole Municipal Watershed in the event of a wildland fire; and protecting long-term visual qualities of the Big Hole Valley.
