BLM to Host Watershed Meeting

Lewistown, MT----The BLM’s Lewistown Field Office will host a public meeting on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, to discuss livestock grazing permit renewals in the Two Calf Watershed.

The meeting will be held at the Lewistown Field Office (920 NE Main Street, Lewistown) and will begin at 4:00 p. m. and conclude around 6:00 p.m.

This watershed is located north east of Winifred, Montana and contains approximately 40,000 acres of public land. The majority of the watershed is located within the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument.

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the standards for rangeland health and proposals for future livestock grazing management for the eight allotments included in the watershed. These allotments were previously analyzed in the 1998 Two Calf Watershed plan. The BLM is now analyzing the renewal of these 10-year grazing permits.

If you have questions about this meeting, please contact Vinita Shea, a rangeland management specialist at 406-538-1919.
