In response to a public request, the Bureau of Land Management’s Lewistown Field Office (BLM) has extended the public comment period on the Snowies-Little Belts Grazing Permit Renewal Preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) through October 15, 2008.
The original deadline for public comment was September 19, 2008.
This EA assesses resource conditions on 25,674 acres of BLM-administered public lands encompassing 81 BLM grazing allotments in Fergus and Judith Basin counties. It also identifies and evaluates management actions needed to ensure rangeland health standards are met and that livestock grazing management guidelines are conformed with.
The EA does not address recreation or travel management. The end result of this effort will be renewal of the 10-year grazing permits covering the 81 allotments.
Copies of the Snowies-Little Belts Grazing Permit Renewal Preliminary EA have been mailed to all of the 63 permittees/lessees, other pertinent agencies, and interested publics. The preliminary EA is also available on the BLM website at:
