Woodhawk Allotment EA Available for Public Review
The BLM has prepared and is now accepting public comments on a preliminary environmental assessment (EA) that analyzes the rangeland health and proposals for future grazing management in the Woodhawk Allotment.
The Woodhawk Allotment contains approximately 25,000 acres of public land and is located northeast of Winifred, Montana, along the Missouri River.
The EA identifies and evaluates management actions needed to ensure rangeland health standards are met and that grazing management guidelines are conformed with. A key product of this EA will be the renewal of a 10-year grazing permit. The EA does not consider recreation or travel management.
Copies of this EA have been mailed to the grazing permittee and interest groups and the public comment period will conclude on November 25, 2008. The preliminary EA will also be available on the BLM website at:
If you have questions about this EA, please call Vinita Shea, a BLM rangeland management specialist, at 406-538-1919.
