BLM Hosts Open House in Camp Crook to Discuss Fire Project
The Bureau of Land Management will hold an open house Nov. 18 at Camp Crook, S.D., to share information on proposed hazard fuel reduction efforts in southeastern Montana.
The Mill Iron/Bell Tower fuel reduction project will be the primary topic. The proposed project area is approximately 1,500 acres in size, located in eastern Carter County.
The event will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Camp Crook Community Center located at 203 Main Street. BLM resource specialists will be on-hand to provide additional information and answer questions.
Fuel reduction treatments are intended to reduce wild fire risk, increase stand resiliency and improve habitat and vegetation health. Proposed methods may include prescribed burning, mechanical thinning and firewood, post and pole sales for live and dead trees.
