Missouri Breaks Interpretive Center Institutes $2 Amenity Fee
Beginning May 25, 2008, there will be a $2.00 per adult standard amenity fee for those viewing and/or using the interpretive hall and classroom at the Missouri Breaks Interpretive Center in Fort Benton.
The amenity fee will not apply to those using the lobby, restrooms, hiking trail, picnic areas and other outside facilities.   Also, there will be no amenity fee for school groups and those 15 years of age or younger.
The Missouri Breaks Interpretive Center is located at 701 7th Street in Fort Benton. The center is open (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) seven days per week, including holidays, between Memorial Day weekend and September 30. The remainder of the year, the center is open (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) Monday through Friday and closed on federal holidays. The River and Plains Society, a local non-profit grouped dedicated to historical preservation and interpretation, will be assisting with center operations this year.
The BLM is mandated by Congress to have standard amenity fees in place to help cover the operation costs at facilities such as this interpretive center. The amenity fee will be in effect year round and all fees collected will be used for additional education and interpretive needs at the Missouri Breaks Interpretive Center.
Also beginning this year, an Area Pass will be sold at the interpretive center and at other museums in Fort Benton. The Area Pass will provide admission to a number of different venues in Fort Benton – the Old Fort, the Ag Center (Museum of the Northern Great Plains) and Homestead Village, the Museum of the Upper Missouri and the Missouri Breaks Interpretive Center. This pass will cost $10.00 for adults (and a reduced fee for children) and will provide entrance to all the museums in Fort Benton as well as the Missouri Breaks Interpretive Center. The Area Pass will be valid for two days from the date of purchase.
