BLM Invites Comments on Proposal to Excavate Holes along Dyce Creek
The public is invited to comment on a proposal to excavate up to 31 holes along Dyce Creek in Beaverhead County.
Used to test for placer gold, the holes will be about three feet wide, between four and 20 feet long, and up to six feet deep.
The land where the proposed activity would take place is split estate, meaning the surface acreage is privately owned by the Harrison Ranch and the subsurface minerals are owned and managed by the federal government.
An environmental assessment will be prepared for the project.
The proposed plan of operation is available at the Bureau of Land Management, Dillon Field Office, 1005 Selway Drive, Dillon, Mont., during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), Monday through Friday. Written comments must refer to serial number MTM 98188 and be received no later than July 30, 2008.
For further information contact geologist Robert Gunderson at the BLM Dillon Field Office, 1005 Selway Drive, Dillon, Mont., 59725, phone (406) 683-8000.
