Fire Burning near Delmoe Lake

A 10-20 acre fire is burning about 2 miles northeast of Delmoe Lake, which is 8 miles east of Butte, Mont.

Delmoe Lake is a very popular recreation site in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest located in heavy lodgepole pine forest.

The Marsh Mine Fire was reported late Saturday afternoon, and when firefighters arrived, it was burning through trees and grass with some group tree torching.

Three water helicopters and two retardant dropping tanker planes were diverted to the blaze from the nearby Cactus Fire.  Three Forest Service fire engine crews from Wise River, Whitehall, and Wisdom are fighting the fire on the ground.

No structures or property are in danger.  The cause of the fire is unknown.
