BLM Invites Comments on Planned Improvements at Windy Point
and Storey Ditch along Madison River
DILLON - The Bureau of Land Management is seeking comment on the development and upgrade of two fishing access sites along the upper Madison River. The sites are known locally as Windy Point and Storey Ditch.

Windy Point is between Lyons Bridge and Palisades Recreation Area on the east side of the river. Proposed development at this site will include a concrete boat ramp approximately 400 yards downstream from the existing launch, as well as a new access road, toilet, picnic table, and parking areas.

Storey Ditch is between McAtee fishing access and Varney Bridge also on the east side of the river. Proposed site improvements here will include upgrades to the existing access road and parking area and installation of a new toilet. Some minor realignment of the two track road may be necessary. No upgrades to the boat launch are currently expected, however a concrete boat ramp will be installed as funding becomes available.

The projects include closing, blocking and reclaiming unnecessary roads at the existing Windy Point boat launch.

Public comments will be accepted until February 29th. For more information or to provide comments please contact Susan James, Outdoor Recreation Planner at P.O. Box 765, Ennis, Montana, 59729, (406) 682-4082, or email sjames@blm.gov.
