Protest Period Determined for the Monument
Resource Management Plan
The Bureau of Land Management has announced that the protest period for the recently released Proposed Resource Management Plan and Final Environmental Impact Statement (RMP/EIS) for the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument began on February 1, and will run through March 4, 2008.

Those dates were established in a Federal Register notice that ran on February 1, 2008.

Protests on the Proposed RMP and Final EIS should be sent to the Director of the BLM and instructions for filing protests are described in the Dear Reader letter of the Proposed RMP/EIS. At the conclusion of the protest period, a Record of Decision can be issued, pending the resolution of any protests.

The RMP/EIS was mailed to nearly 1,300 interested groups and individuals and is now available from BLM’s Lewistown Field Office, 920 NE Main Street, or on the internet at http://www.blm.gov/mt/st/en/fo/lewistown_field_office/um_rmp_process.html

For more information, contact Craig Flentie at the Lewistown Field Office, at (406) 538-1943.
