BLM Hosts Meeting on Rangeland Health Assessment

The Bureau of Land Management’s Lewistown Field Office (BLM) will soon be hosting an informational meeting/open house during the early stages of preparing an environmental assessment involving public lands in the Little Snowy, Snowy and Little Belt Mountains, including Chippewa and McDonalds Creeks.

The meeting/open house will be on February 28, at the Lewistown Field Office (920 NE Main Street), and the environmental assessment will evaluate rangeland health standards and grazing management actions associated with 10-year grazing permit renewals on public lands. In addition, pertinent associated issues, such as weed and forest management, will be discussed.

The informational meeting portion of the day will begin at 10:00 a.m. with brief presentations about the planning process, rangeland health standards and guidelines, resource conditions, issues, and possible management resolutions, and will last about 30 minutes.

The open house portion of the day will begin around 10:30 a.m. with livestock grazing permit holders coming into the office throughout the day to discuss their particular allotment(s). The open house will conclude around 5:00 p.m.

If you have questions about this meeting/open house please contact Lowell Hassler, Project Lead at 538-1909.
