BLM Seeks Public Input on Park County Request for Gravel Pit
The Bureau of Land Management Butte Field Office is seeking public comment to evaluate a request from Park County to establish a site to excavate and crush gravel on BLM land about 1.5 miles east of Livingston, just off the Old Boulder Road.
BLM will host a public informational meeting on March 12, at the USDA Building Conference Room, 5242 Hwy 89 South in Livingston at 7 pm. The purpose of the meeting is to explain the proposal, answer questions and give the public an opportunity to submit written comments.
The proposed site has been disturbed for minerals materials in the past and has recently been used for unauthorized dumping. Park County proposes to use gravel material from the site under a free use permit in return for cleaning up the site and fencing off approximately 10 acres to prevent future littering problems. BLM would provide the fencing materials.
Anyone with questions or comments on the proposal is encouraged to contact Dave Williams or Joan Gabelman at the Butte Field Office, 533-7600 by March 26. Electronic comments may be sent to MT_Butte_FO@blm.gov with Park County gravel pit in the subject line.
