BLM to Conduct Burns in Pine Hills

The BLM Miles City Field Office will be burning slash piles in the Pine Hills area of Custer County approximately 10 miles east of Miles City between Dec. 4 and Jan. 31.

Burning will occur between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. and smoke may be visible. Approximately 200 piles of the non-marketable timber and debris will be burned as proper weather conditions permit.

The piles are a byproduct of a hazardous fuels reduction project initiated to reduce the threat of wildfire spread from BLM administered lands into the adjacent Pine Hills subdivision.

For more information on the burning or to get advice about maintaining defensible space around buildings in wildland-urban areas call the BLM Miles City Interagency Dispatch Center at (406)233-2900.
