Central Montana RAC to Meet September 2 and 3
The Bureau of Land Management’s Central Montana Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will meet September 2, 2008, at the Missouri Breaks Interpretive Center (701 7th Street) in Fort Benton; and on September 3, 2008, at the Hampton Inn (2301 14th Street SW) in Great Falls.
The September 2 meeting (in Fort Benton) will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a 30-minute public comment period. The RAC will then tour the Missouri Breaks Interpretive Center. Following the tour, the group will discuss visitor use on the Upper Missouri National Wild and Scenic River. This meeting will take an extended break at 3:30, when the council will travel to Great Falls. After arriving at the Hampton Inn in Great Falls, the RAC will reconvene at 5:00 p.m. to discuss the Malta Resource Management Plan. This meeting will adjourn around 5:45 p.m.
The September 3 meeting (in Great Falls) will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a 30- minute public comment period. The council members will then hear a series of updates concerning oil and gas activity, travel planning in the Judith Mountains, the Limekiln blow down, grazing permit renewal planning and the Bowdoin Natural Gas Project Environmental Assessment. The RAC will then return to discussions of the Malta Resource Management Plan and will hear a presentation from the U.S. Forest Service concerning service fee proposals. This meeting will adjourn at 3:00 p.m.
The Central Montana Resource Advisory Council is a 15-member citizen advisory council that meets about every three months at various locations throughout north central Montana. This council advises the BLM concerning a wide array of public resource issues.
The public is encouraged to attend these council meetings and a public comment period is provided at the beginning of each meeting.
