BLM Seeks Comments on CBNG Project

The Bureau of Land Management Miles City Field Office has invited the public to comment on the Fidelity Exploration & Production Company Tongue River-Deer Creek North Federal Project Environmental Assessment.

Public comments will be accepted for a 15-day period ending on Aug. 27, 2008.

The EA includes the Deer Creek North and Deer Creek North Amendment Project Plans of Development. The Deer Creek North project area is located within the CX Field near Decker, Mont., in Big Horn County.

The document will be available for viewing and printing on the web at: www.blm.gov/mt/st/en/fo/miles_city_field_office.html.

Persons wishing to participate in the review process are encouraged to submit comments in writing to: BLM Miles City Field Office, Attn: Tongue River-Deer Creek North Project c/o Shane Findlay, 111 Garryowen Road, Miles City, MT 59301-0940. Comments may also be emailed to: MT_Miles_City_FO@blm.gov with “Tongue River/Deer Creek North Federal Project” included in the email subject line.

Fidelity’s proposal is for the drilling, production and reclamation of 34 federal coal bed natural gas wells; including the construction of new infrastructure and the use of existing infrastructure on private, state and federal surface. It also includes produced water management using existing Montana Pollution Discharge Elimination System permits for treated and untreated water discharge and beneficial use, and interim-final reclamation.

Following the public comment period the BLM will assess the input and issue a Final Decision regarding the project.
