Pompeys Pillar National Monument Opens For the Season
Pompeys Pillar National Monument will open for the season on Mon., April 28. The historic site is 25 miles east of Billings off Interstate 94. Admission is $7 per vehicle.
The site will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April 28 through May 23, and then 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from May 24 through September 1. From September 2 through October 25, the site will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Although the interpretive center will close for the season October 25, visitors may still walk in to the site during daylight hours.
The $7 per vehicle admission fee covers all occupants and is charged from April 28 to October 25 when full services are provided. Interagency passes will also be honored. Daily fees and/or interagency season and senior passes may be purchased on-site or at the Information Access Center at the Bureau of Land Management Montana State Office, 5001 Southgate Drive, in Billings. Fees are returned to the site to provide extra services for the public.
Interpretive programs will be available beginning April 28. A paved road, parking lot, entry station, and outdoor amphitheater were completed last year, further enhancing the interpretive center and extensive walkway system that opened in 2006.
