BLM Plans Burn in Upper Horse Prairie
If weather permits, the Bureau of Land Management will start their planned burn in the Upper Horse Prairie area southwest of Dillon in the next few weeks.
The 200 acre project is in the South Fork of Divide Creek. Weather conditions will dictate implementation schedule, expected to take one or two days to complete. “The goal is to remove conifers that are encroaching into the sagebrush steppe,” stated fuels management specialist Kipper Blotkamp of the Dillon Field Office.
The burn will be a cooperative effort of the Dillon BLM, Forest Service, and Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation. For more information on the planned burns, contact Kipper Blotkamp or George Johnson at the BLM Dillon Field Office, phone 683-8000.
