BLM Completes Environmental Review of the Tobacco Roots
The Bureau of Land Management's Dillon Field Office has completed an environmental assessment (EA) covering approximately 33,600 acres of public land on 30 grazing allotments within the South Tobacco Roots Watershed in Madison County, Montana. The EA proposes to improve forest, upland and riparian health through mechanical treatments, commercial timber harvest, prescribed fire, and revised livestock grazing management.
The EA has been mailed to all individuals who expressed an interest in the project and asked to be on the mailing list. The BLM welcomes public comments on the alternatives and the environmental assessment. To be most useful, public comments need to be submitted by June 8. If you would like to receive a copy of the EA, please call the Dillon Field Office at (406) 683-8000. The EA is also available from Dillon’s web site, http://www.blm.gov/mt/st/en/fo/dillon_field_office.html.
