BLM Releases Decision Record on Coal Lease
The Bureau of Land Management has released a Finding of No Significant Impact and Decision Record on a Spring Creek Coal Company federal coal lease application in Big Horn County.
The application is for an approximately 1,207 acre tract of federal coal; estimated at 151 million tons. The federal coal reserves were applied for as a maintenance tract for the Spring Creek Mine which would extend the life of the mine for several years. About 80 acres are public surface and the rest is split estate; where the surface is owned or controlled by the Spring Creek Coal Company and the coal is federally owned.
