Contact:   Mark Jacobsen (406) 233-2831 Date: March 16, 2007      BLM Releases Decision Record on Coal Lease   The Bureau of Land Management has released a Finding of No Significant Impact and Decision Record on a Spring Creek Coal Company federal coal lease application in Big Horn County.   The document may be viewed online at: www.blm.gov/mt/st/en/fo/miles_city_field_office.html.   The application is for an approximately 1,207 acre tract of federal coal; estimated at 151 million tons. The federal coal reserves were applied for as a maintenance tract for the Spring Creek Mine which would extend the life of the mine for several years. About 80 acres are public surface and the rest is split estate; where the surface is owned or controlled by the Spring Creek Coal Company and the coal is federally owned.   A copy of the FONSI and Decision Record may be obtained by mailing a request to the BLM Miles City Field Office, Attn: Dan Benoit, 111 Garryowen Road, Miles City, MT 59301.
