BLM PLANS BURNS IN SOUTHWEST MONTANA

DILLON (March 8, 2007) – If weather permits, the Bureau of Land Management will start their planned burns in the Dillon area in the next few weeks.

One 500 acre project is on the east side of the Ruby Mountains, approximately four miles northwest of Alder, Montana.

A second 800 acre project is planned in the vicinity of Camp Creek, approximately five miles east of Melrose. Weather conditions will dictate the implementation dates of both prescribed burns.

Personnel conducting the burns are from the Dillon BLM, Forest Service, and Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation. For more information on the planned burns, contact Kipper Blotkamp or George Johnson at the BLM Dillon Field Office, phone 683-2337.
