Contact: Mark Jacobsen (406) 233-2831 Mark_Jacobsen@blm.gov BLM to burn timber piles MILES CITY, Mont. --- Personnel from the Bureau of Land Management Miles City Field Office will be burning piles of unsalvageable timber in southwest Custer County, approximately 50-60 miles down the Tongue River Road, on Thursday, March 1 until Friday, March 2, 2007. The ignition of the piles will occur between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. There are approximately 10 piles to be burned during this time. Recent snow accumulation allows for good conditions to burn these piles. The piles consist of non-marketable timber within the Swain Coulee wildland fire area which burned in 2002.
