Date:  August 20, 2007 Contact:  Marilyn Krause, 406-533-7617 Public Comments on Grazing Proposal Needed by August 31 The Bureau of Land Management's Butte Field Office has received an application for trailing of livestock in the Kilborn Gulch and Little Galena Gulch areas located immediately south of the Boulder River and I-15, approximately 3 miles west of Boulder, Montana. BLM is currently preparing an environmental assessment to analyze this proposal. Comments or concerns should be submitted to the BLM office in Butte by August 31 in order to be considered. Please send your comments to Renee Johnson, BLM Butte Field Office, 106 North Parkmont, Butte, Montana 59701 The proposal requests that 202 cow/calf pairs be allowed to trail in groups from the main frontage road which is used as a stock driveway through BLM lands and onto the lands administered by the U.S. Forest Service under a joint FS-BLM grazing permit. Trailing is proposed to occur in June when cattle are moved onto the grazing allotment, and in October when cattle are moved off. Cattle are moved onto the allotment depending on range readiness, so dates could vary year-to-year.  If you have questions or need more information, Johnson can be reached at (406) 533-7630. -30-
