DESERT ENTRY ON PUBLIC LANDS

Public lands that are not withdrawn from entry are open to desert entry. Lands must be classified as suitable for desert land entry before an entry is allowed. Our office administers the states of Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota. At this time our office does not have any lands designated as suitable for desert entry; however, you may select a tract of open public land and file a desert entry application. The application must be accompanied by a petition for classification (to determine the suitability of the lands selected). Refer to Subpart 2520 of the most recent edition of Title 43, Code of Federal Regulations, as well as an index to our land status maps. Your application must be filed at the state office
