Schedule

Spring and Summer of 2012

The South Dakota Field Office will submit the preliminary draft South Dakota Resource Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (RMP/EIS) to the BLM’s Washington Office for review in the Spring of 2012.   The Washington Office review is expected to take four to five months. Once comments are received from the Washington Office, the SDFO Field Office will make additional changes and edits to the draft RMP/EIS.

Fall and early Winter 2012

A draft RMP/EIS is expected to be released for public review and comment in the Fall of 2012. A Notice of Availability will be published in the Federal Register and announcements posted in local newspapers and issued through other media sources. Once the draft RMP/EIS is released, a 90 day public comment period will be held. Public meetings will be scheduled during the 90-day review period at various locations.

2013

The South Dakota Field Office will review and respond to comments from the public and work to resolve any concerns or new issues that are identified.   A Final RMP/EIS may be released to the public in late 2013 or early 2014. Prior to release of the Final RMP/EIS, a Notice of Availability will be published and announcements posted in local newspapers and issued through other media sources.   A 30-day protest period will be held after the Final RMP/EIS is released to the public.

2014

BLM will work to resolve any protests. Once protests are resolved, BLM will issue a Record of Decision.
