Local Information

Climate The climate is generally mild. Summers are warm with temperatures ranging from 60 to 90 degrees. On rare occasions 100 degrees can be surpassed. Late evenings and early mornings are cool. Mornings are clear, with afternoon thunderstorms common in July and August. Annual precipitation is 22 inches. Freezing temperatures are possible until early May and again by late September. Winters can be serverly cold with snow possible from November through April. Layers of clothing in the spring and fall, and sun protection in the summer, are recommended. Transportation The nearest commercial airport is in Rapid City. Food/Supplies Restaurants and grocery stores are located in Sturgis.
