<<Back to Fort Meade Recreation Area
The north half of the recreation area is accessed from the county road which heads north from the stoplight at the junction of Lazelle Street and Junction Avenue in Sturgis. Follow the gravel road about 2.5 miles north and east to the Fort Meade reservoir access road.
To access the Backcountry Byway on the south half of the recreation area, take exit 34 on Interstate 90 at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
The Byway entrance on Highway 34 is 1.2 miles east of the Lazelle Street Junction Avenue intersection in Sturgis. The graveled Byway is accessible to all types of vehicles during the summer months. There is no winter maintenance.
