Location & Basic Responsibility Area The Miles City Fire Station in Miles City, Montana, has the largest area of responsibility within the central portion of the Eastern Montana Fire Zone (EMFZ). Resources available are two Type 4 engines (E-241 & E242), one Type 6 engine (E-261), and a watertender. The Miles City Fire Station has direct suppression responsibility on all BLM lands in Custer, Prairie, Dawson, Richland, and part of Rosebud County. Mutual aid agreements are in place to allow the BLM to assist on all private and state fires for the first 24 hours. The Miles City Fire Station also assists the other four protection zones within the EMFZ. Points of Interest This area features numerous historical and recreational interests. The Miles City community offers various entertainment such as the Range Riders Museum, Fort Keogh Research Center, and the World-Famous Jaycee Bucking Horse Sale. Recreational sites, such as Terry Badlands, Pine Hills, Dean S. Reservoir, Matthews Recreational Area, Spotted Eagle Lake and the Knowlton area, are available for fishing, hiking, boating, hunting and scenic views.
